Savage Inequalities of Land Ownership

Statistics about land ownership are a well-kept secret, but a 1979 survey found that a mere 2.5 per cent of landowners with more than 100 hectares owned nearly three-quarters of all the land in the world, with the top 0.23 per cent controlling over half. The richest 10 per cent of Americans own 60-65 percent of private land by value. By area, it is estimated that three percent of the population owns 95 per cent of the privately owned land in the USA.
